From the great Kate Tsubata to Mike Balcomb regarding the 'reinstatement' of In-Jin Moon (or Han or Lorentzen or whatver).
Dear Mike, I honestly was floored by the recent announcement that In Jin is being allowed to have any role in the U.S. activities of HSA-UWC. This is like appointing Benedict Arnold to be Secretary of State.
From a moral and spiritual point of view, it is incomprehensible how a person who flouted every single aspect of our teachings, secretly and with deliberation, while setting herself up as the sole voice allowed from the pulpit, could ever be trusted by anyone. She singlehandedly turned the movement into a gestapo-like state, with pastors banned from speaking in their own areas, with “Big Sister” blaring at us from screens, and with obnoxious, inappropriate music from the illicit lover as the only allowable content.
She preached a message of hate between husbands and wives, and encouraged a reversal of dominion between youth and parents, interposing herself as an archangelic figure for youth to follow, rather than listen to their own parents. Lies, continual deception, even to the point of hiding an affair and pregnancy and birth and illegitimate child…were all seen as means justified by her singleminded, selfish “end” of forcing her alternative version of what God should accept, not what God actually has taught for thousands of years.
She singlehandedly destroyed the faith of the second generation, becoming such a blatant poster child for cruelty, misuse of people and position and money, that most of the second generation felt the entire teaching of the Principle was nothing more than a con game.
But you know all this. I am writing to let you know that the organization risks legal exposure. During her tenure, she committed (and involved others in committing) a number of criminal acts. For instance, she and Ben avoided due process of law regarding the issues of his abandonment of his children, non-payment of child support. She also fired, harassed and ordered campaigns against would-be whistle-blowers (like Tossa Cromwell, and several second generation youth). She had church officials, like the legal department and Phillip Schanker, conspire to tie reimbursement for Patricia Lorentzen’s travel costs (which were supposed to be paid by Ben) tied to signing a gag letter. This extended from US to French HSA-UWC personnel.
These are only a small portion of the illegal and unethical acts committed directly by her and others during her holding of that position. By firing her, until now, HSA (or FFWPU, whatever the current legal entity may be) could claim some deniability. But once she is reinstated, now these things all become actionable as condoned, covered up, or agreed to by the church itself.
Remember that the Catholic Church, for years, hid the criminal sexual behavior of various clerics, and chose to hide behind “religious freedom” and “the sanctity of the confessional” but eventually were forced into courts, have had to pay enormous damages, and to this day, are seen as suspect by Catholics and non-Catholics all over the world.
By instituting In Jin back into a church position, you are doing what the Catholic Church did when they moved the child molestor from parish to parish, or from one role to another–lying to the congregants, pretending ignorance, and preventing the normal course of justice from taking place.
This would be more than the final death blow to the faith of U.S. Blessed families. It is also a move which will expose you and Rev. Kim as liable in both criminal and civil proceedings, class action lawsuits, or media investigations.
As far as “unity with True Mother” goes, please note that in Korea, it was only when CheongPyeong exposed the church to massive fraud investigation by the government, and when Mother herself became a target for billions of court costs and death taxes, that she finally found out the real way that those under her were operating. She was really angry, and gave that speech that she insisted be played worldwide at every Sunday service, saying that from now on, everything needed to be reported to her so she could deal with it. This issue needs to be reported to her, that reinstating In Jin into any public role immediately triggers massive criminal and civil liability for the acts which took place. Even defending against any suit would probably bankrupt the US movement and forfeit whatever small credibility still exists.
In Jin has sneered at purity, Blessing, her parent’s teachings, the moral code upon which HSA or FFWPU was established. That’s fine, if she wants to absent herself from all of it. But to simultaneously sneer at what most of us sacrificed greatly to establish, and to seek a position to preach and teach? That’s hypocrisy.
The more important issue is the condition and precedent this sets in history, the equivalent of satan getting God to establish the fall as equal and part of the principle by intervening in the consequences, and therefore removing the possibility of humanity ever attaining the divine intention of co-creatorship and absolute sonship to God. If you set up the person who falls, lies, covers up, colludes against existing wives and children…as “equal” or “above” the people who keep and embody purity, Blessing and true familyhood, you create an historical condition of agreement and belonging to satan’s word and satan’s dominion. This would be beyond what happened at the fall, in its seriousness. Beyond the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, the high priests, or Pontius Pilate. Beyond the failure of John the Baptist.
I cannot emphasize enough how seriously you should see your role in all this. If it were me, I would inform Mother in person of the issues, and if she insists, then resign openly and publicly, rather than expose God to an assault on the providence so many millions died to establish.
